Windowmaster partnership boosts integrated building services approach for SCS Group

SCS Group has become a certified partner of Windowmaster, supplier of sustainable indoor climate solutions based on natural ventilation through controlled openings in facades and roofs.

The partnership brings together Windowmaster’s product range and the SCS Group’s delivery expertise in building energy management to offer integrated building services installations to main contractors and M&E specialists.

As a result of the deal, SCS Group is now able to offer combined BMS, smoke control and passive ventilation systems that communicate directly on one network for all types of projects – particularly education and health related buildings.

This innovative approach eliminates duplication of control stations and interface hardware and software, and improves operator control and monitoring facilities. Crucially, this integrated approach results in considerable cost savings when compared with employing separate specialists for individual disciplines.

Established in 1992, SCS Group – previously known as Smoke Control Services recently designed and installed an integrated system to control the ventilation, air conditioning, under-floor heating and hot water systems at the Brighton campus of the University of Sussex (pictured).

Contractors Essex Services Group (ESG) originally specified three separate systems for the project – a building management system (BMS), window actuators and passive ventilation – with the three elements interfaced through the BMS. SCS Group was awarded the contract after designing a completely integrated building services package that simplified the installation and reduced costs by 35 per cent.

Managing director of SCS Group Allan Meek said, ‘Natural ventilation has been proven to improve the wellbeing and concentration rates of a building’s occupants, ultimately reducing absenteeism. As well as being energy efficient, they are also completely silent and are guaranteed to work for the lifetime of the property which makes passive ventilation the perfect choice for educational establishments.

‘We are delighted to become an official partner of Windowmaster which means clients will benefit from our ability to provide holistic solutions for their entire building services needs, using the best available design, products, service – and all at a reduced cost.’
