Recolight extends collection options for businesses
Recolight is extending the range of collection options it offers to businesses in order to help increase access to lamp recycling facilities for all.
The new collection options will give electrical contractors, facilities managers, and other electrical businesses collecting smaller quantities of waste lamps easy and low cost access to facilities which will enable them to arrange for waste lamps to be recycled.Previously, businesses that did not meet the threshold of collecting over 1,000 lamps every three months would have relied on using the facilities of an open Recolight collection point for recycling, or a range of other commercially available services. Now, for a nominal charge, there are two options available for them to become a Recolight collection point:
– A Recolight container can be leased for the length of a large refit or re-lamping project. When the container is full, Recolight will collect it and recycle the contents free of charge.
– Any business which collects less than 1,000 lamps over a 12 week period, and would like to be a collection point for waste lamps, can lease a container and join Recolight’s lamp collection network
Nigel Harvey, Recolight’s chief executive, said, ‘We are constantly looking at ways to improve the collection services that we offer, and to increase the access and ease of recycling of waste lamps. The lease of containers in one-off circumstances means that contractors and other businesses can be certain they are acting in an environmentally friendly way during their project, and by making it easier for businesses with fewer lamps to recycle, we hope to be able to ensure as many lamps as possible are recycled.’
Once collection points have joined the Recolight network they have the opportunity to benefit from Recolight’s industry expertise, to be listed on the Recolight collection point map online and to become an open collection point.
Collection of the containers, once full, and recycling of all waste lamps is completely free of charge including the full provision of consignment notes for duty of care purposes and access to fully accredited suppliers.
