Taunton Deane Wins National Award After Installing Gas Tags

Taunton Deane Borough Council has won a national award after installing Gas Tag’s software in its 4,500 properties.

Gas Tag is designed to help to save lives by stopping unqualified gas fitters from working on appliances in people’s homes.

In the recent AGSM awards, which celebrate gas safety in social housing, Taunton Deane Borough Council won the Social Housing Compliance Initiative award. The awards were announced at their annual national conference dinner at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire.

In the upcoming IGEM Gas Safety Awards, which honours outstanding companies in the sector, Taunton Deane Borough Council has also been shortlisted for Innovative Product and Innovative Project together with Gas Tag.

Gas Tag verifies the credentials of gas engineers via a direct link to the Gas Safe Register. Each engineer has to evidence their competency and their completed job gets uploaded to a centralised portal where the data can be monitored in real-time. This provides landlords with a ‘NASA-style’ dashboard for gas safety compliance.

Richard Wiseman, property investment manager at Taunton Deane, said, “We’re delighted to have won this prestigious award. We first met Gas Tag at last year’s AGSM awards and were so impressed with their technology that we quickly implemented it in our homes.

“Thanks to Gas Tag’s innovative technology, we’re leading the way in managing our homes and going above and beyond to ensure the safety of our tenants.”
