Engineer Takes On Kilimanjaro Challenge For A Good Cause

Rose Phillips has accepted the challenge, which aims to raise £100,000 by February 2017 to support research into a rare form of cancer and help the Hendrie family to rebuild their lives.

Christopher Hendrie, a fellow member of the engineering community, sadly lost his battle to cancer, and so the sector is pulling together to do what it can to support his family.

The EIC is the national charity for all people from the electrical, electronics and energy industries. Rose, aged 29 from Gower, will be taking the 10-day Lemosho Route as part of the EIC expedition, which is widely considered to be the best route on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Rose comments, “I’m very excited to be taking part in this massive challenge. When the opportunity was put forward to me, there was no way I was going to turn it down. It’s for an incredibly important cause and I’m determined to complete the challenge and raise as much money as possible to provide financial assistance for the Hendrie family.”

David Kieft, ECA national president and director of RDM Electrical and Mechanical Services, added, “While unable to undertake the challenge myself, we have all been touched by the tragedy that is cancer and it is great to be able to assist wherever we can.”
