ECA To Host Virtual Reality Experience At Construction Week

ECA is set to have a major presence at this year’s UK Construction Week, taking place on October 9-11 2018 at the NEC Birmingham.

For the very first time, ECA will trial a virtual reality experience at the ECA stand, BT165. Attendees can expect a glimpse of the potential applications of virtual reality and augmented reality in the electrotechnical and engineering services sector.

The Building Tech Live Theatre, jointly hosted by ECA and Voltimum, will cover sessions on smart homes, cyber security, fire safety and prevention, and ECA will showcase new examples of the sector’s use of augmented reality, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

Key figures from ECA will present talks across the three days, including:

  • Government, industry, economics and digital – a transformational trajectory, with Rob Driscoll, deputy director of business policy and practice
  • What you need to know about the 18th Edition, with Gary Parker, senior technical support engineer
  • The smart home for the electrician, with Darren Smith, digital building solutions advisor.

Rob Driscoll is also nominated as a UK Construction Week 2018 Role Model. The Role Models campaign aims to raise the profile of industry professionals who have gone above and beyond the requirements of their role, or faced considerable adversity in reaching their career goals. Rob’s Role Model profile can be read here.

Paul Reeve, director of business at ECA, commented, “ECA is delighted to strengthen our partnership with UK Construction Week, and the establishment of Building Tech Live is a superb development. We are looking forward to offering ECA members events benefits such as VIP status, and a new VR experience for all attendees at the ECA stand.”

Voltimum will also be hosting the Smart Solutions Awards within the Building Tech Live arena on Wednesday October 10.

Eddie Embleton, managing director of Voltimum, said, “We have supported UK Construction Week since its launch in 2015, and each year we have grown our seminar programme provision with our partners like Schneider Electric, ABB, Legrand, Dimplex, Vent Axia and Nexans. Last year we launched the Smart Solutions Awards from the Hub at the show with Steph McGovern which was very successful, so we are extremely excited about growing these with Steph again on Wednesday October 10 in Building Tech Live.”

ECA members keen to attend UK Construction Week are entitled to a VIP ticket by mentioning ECA on this signup page.
