Reggiani Leads The Way With All-LED For Amsterdam Primark

Reggiani

Following the success of the lighting installation at Primark’s Madrid Flagship store, Reggiani has supplied a variety of products to the new Primark Flagship store in Amsterdam. The brief, by UK lighting designer LAPD, was to create a complete LED lighting scheme throughout all of the seven sales floors.

The new store is located at Damrak 77, which is very close to Dam Square in the centre of Amsterdam and a short walk from Amsterdam Central Station. With multiple entrances, the site offers over 8,200m² of retail space in total.

Reggiani’s Yori was originally supplied to Primark Madrid in metal halide and LED versions and were specified as part of the brief for Amsterdam as the luminaire head dimensions are compact and the Yori fitting offers the highest light output when compared to other similarly sized luminaires.

Another important consideration was the overall look of the fitting, with this in mind Reggiani was able to supply the fitting in a variety of finishes to project the right look for each department. Polished chrome finish Yori were used on the lower ground/ground floors with a white Yori on the first, second and third floors, whilst a brushed ‘raw’ aluminium Yori fitting was installed on the fourth and fifth, all incorporating 30W LEDs.

The finishes tied in with Primark’s own concept design of the classic Amsterdam canal house. A variety of twin recessed 2 x 30W LED Yori were specified for the project with one narrow 15in and one medium beam 29in to be incorporated into the wooden feature rafters at each of the entrances. A white version of the fitting was chosen for the ground floor cash desks, used in conjunction with low LED 10W in 3,000K directly over the tills, along with pendants featuring 9W LED downlights and CyLED 16 to ensure excellent, uniform levels of illumination.

Eoin Carroll, senior designer at LAPD, comments: “Although light levels are in keeping with previous Primark stores we eliminated stand alone ambient lighting fixtures in this project by putting flood beam Yori onto the stand track spacing for a slightly different look. The well executed lighting scheme at Primark Amsterdam has provided an accent-driven lighting solution that creates a stunning environment for shoppers.”
