Ellis cable cleats installed in Costa Rica for the first time

The specification, which was placed by Siemens through Ellis’ local distributor, Electroval, has seen the Yorkshire company’s 2F flame retardant polymeric clamps installed in substations in Coyol and Jacó.

Tony Conroy, Ellis’ sales director, said, ‘Winning the first specification in a new country is always a challenge, but in Costa Rica the job was made a lot easier thanks to ICE’s determination to have the safest installation possible.

‘The team at ICE was well aware of the dangers posed by a short circuit and once they had been introduced to our cleats through Electroval they were adamant they were exactly what was needed to ensure the installation was properly safe.’

Ellis’ introduction into the Costa Rican market was aided by an export model that sees the company first seek out and appointment a local distributor – an approach the provides them with instant market expertise, thus reducing the amount of time it takes to establish the Ellis name and brand in a new country.

At present, Ellis has local distributors in 30 different countries, as well as a business development manager, Gabriela Castro-Fontoura, who was appointed specifically to handle the Latin American countries.
