EasiLume was set the challenge of finding a long lasting, low maintenance light which could be centrally controlled, making the room usable as a lecture theatre, dining hall and exhibition space.
‘The spec for this project was very different,’ said Duncan Lindsell, EasiLume’s head of lighting design. ‘We were given a strict set of parameters and simply asked: “can you do it?”‘
EasiLume’s high quality LEDs can last up to 100,000 hours, which is the equivalent to 11 of constant running. They are fully controllable, fully versatile and can save up to 80 per cent on energy bills compared to their fluorescent and incandescent alternatives.
‘People generally understand the energy efficiency benefits of LED and often give that as the reason for switching,’ continued Duncan. ‘But for a venue like this, with well over 100 lamps at 7m up, changing a lightbulb isn’t easy and the maintenance bills can quickly rack up. LEDs are perfect for this job. They are long lasting, reliable, fully dimmable and fully controllable. We made our case to UBT and the result is fantastic.’
