Marco measures success at 10th birthday

Launched in 2003 by husband and wife Ian and Lillian MacGregor, the manufacturing operation was established at Bryn Cefni Industrial Estate in Llangefni with private funding, supported by WAG investment. A small operation initially, the founders sourced local admin, sales and manufacturing staff, focusing on producing high quality cable containment products that would challenge a market dominated by large European businesses.

Since then, during the past decade the company has grown from strength to strength. Today, Marco employs more than 60 people and has remained committed to a journey of investment and development. Weathering the recent economic downturn, Marco remains focused on growth and expansion and during the past four years, the company’s turnover has more than doubled.

Ian MacGregor, managing director of Marco Cable Management said, ‘We’ve reached a landmark point in our business. I’m pleased to say that we have a strong and steady business that has been born from a sustainable yet ambitious development programme. Key senior appointments during the past few years, as well as additions across the wider business, have helped strengthen our team and the wider operation.’

He added, ‘Our decision to continue to invest and expand as the recession hit was a risk but our belief in our product, our service and our people, helped push us forward.’
The launch of the company’s Elite uPVC Trunking range some three years ago marked the next generation of trunking solutions manufactured by the company, opening doors to new markets and sectors, who quickly embraced the curved, bright white aesthetics of the product.

Ian concluded, ‘As a British manufacturer, we are very much in tune with what the customer wants. Product development and innovation lies at the heart of our business. We can react quickly and ensure we deliver according to our customers’ needs. For us, being one step ahead of consumer demand is critical and it is this that has helped Marco stand out in a very competitive industry.’

The majority of product testing and development is carried out in-house at the Marco head office and manufacturing facility in Anglesey, North Wales. During its lifetime, Marco has invested some £4m back into the business, developing new product ranges, whilst enhancing and expanding existing ones.
