New module on Schneider Electric menu

Led by a Schneider Electric specification engineer, the five CPD courses now on offer provide theory and practical examples for the specification market, to help hone skills and knowledge within the profession. Topics range from cable management, the latest addition, to an overview of the plug-in vehicle market and charging infrastructure or even lighting control solutions.

Each session lasts approximately one hour, ensuring minimal time away from the job while securing valuable credits under the CPD accreditation scheme. All modules are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers and The Construction CPD Certification Service.

Tim Barber, customer marketing manager at Schneider Electric said, ‘Courses have been designed with the end users in mind, utilising our years of experience and distilling this down into manageable chunks.

‘Available over a lunch time, and in a variety of locations, it is hoped it will encourage greater take-up and help the sector build a wider understanding of the key issues and solution available in the market today.’

Courses available:

The electric vehicle (EV) course discusses global energy issues and the need for conservation, providing an insight into government policy in the EV marketplace, developments within the sector and an overview of the infrastructure required to sustain an EV revolution.

An Introduction to KNX is intended for electrical consulting engineers, electrical engineers and system integrators who wish to know more about the technology. Covering hardware, typical configurations as well as system capabilities, the course will show how KNX can be deployed as part of an energy efficiency strategy.

During the lighting control solutions CPD session, attendees will learn more about the varying control solutions for different applications as well as gain an understanding of market trends and opportunities.

The Switching and Part M solutions course discusses regulatory compliance and the identification of alternative switching solutions to satisfy emerging trends. The course will also cover regulatory compliance for wiring accessories and some suitable solutions under Part M of the Building Regulations.

The final and newest edition to the CPD courses is cable management for commercial applications. Covering solutions for the management of power, data and voice cables, the course highlights how cable management can help maximise flexibility within a building as well as future proof it, in line with current market reviews and forecasted trends.
