Big Hit Challenge returns to Silverstone MotoGP – Winner to receive VIP trip to season finale in Valencia

Running for the duration of the Silverstone race weekend, 30th August – 1st September 2013, the Big Hit Challenge requires participants to send eight 4 inch nails into a 6 x 6-inch block of timber with a Stanley high velocity hammer, in the fastest time possible. Last year, Brendan Gent, a joiner from Sunderland, won the challenge in just 9.7 seconds and will be returning to defend his title.

Participants will be seeking to win the all expense paid trip to watch the Stanley sponsored Monster Yamaha Tech3 team at the final race of the 2013 MotoGP season in Valencia, Spain. As part of this prize package, the winner will not only watch the race from the grandstand seating area, but also have access to the main race paddock. They will receive an exclusive tour of the Yamaha Tech3 garage and access to its official hospitality area. Hotel accommodation will be provided, as well as £200 spending money.

Reminiscing over last year’s prize, Brendan said, ‘It had always been an ambition of mine to go to the MotoGP in Valencia so to win the competition was a dream come true. The MotoGP action during the weekend was fantastic and I was able to meet my idol – Cal Crutchlow. The Stanley team showed us great hospitality during the trip and made it an extra special experience for me and my fiancée.’

David Osborne, marketing director at Stanley Black & Decker added, ‘The Big Hit Challenge is another way in which we are working to give back to our loyal end users. Our support of the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team allows us to not only deliver money-can’t-buy experiences, but demonstrate the calibre of our tools at work in the MotoGP environment. Brendan set an impressive record in 2012 and it will be great to see if it can be bettered in this year.’
