Energy Assessment – on the road to the Green Deal

UTN has added to its provision in support of the Green Deal with the introduction of EDI’s Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) and Green Deal Assessor (GDA) courses.

The first step in becoming a Green Deal Assessor and, more generally, the first step to a career as a Domestic Energy Assessor, is to complete the DEA qualification, which allows successful candidates to issue Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPC), a mandatory part of any house move. GDA training is then available as a top-up to this course.

There are no pre-requisites to be a DEA, opening up a huge potential marketplace when the Green Deal kicks off. UTN is keen to stress, however, that the best suited candidates are those that have some knowledge of domestic building types, plus, with taking measurements and working out dimensions a key part of the course a reasonable knowledge of maths is also required.

The first Domestic Energy Assessor courses will be taking place on the 3rd to the 5th September, with Green Deal Assessor training launched shortly after, in October.

Steve Fisher, MD for UTN Training said, ‘Over the last year we have invested heavily in our facilities to deliver a range of courses related to the Green Deal, Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs). We see this as an increasingly important market for our customers, with the Domestic Energy Assessor and soon to be introduced, Green Deal Assessor courses complimenting existing training.’

UTN Training, based in Wakefield, boasts some of the best facilities in Yorkshire and Humber, if not the UK, including a 25m roof for solar thermal and photovoltaic installation courses.
