Makita supports Breast Cancer Care

Makita has chosen Breast Cancer Care as its first charity of the year. In this inaugural year, Makita hope to raise £50,000 to support people affected by breast cancer.

Makita chose Breast Cancer Care for its first partnership after several staff members were affected by the disease.

Makita will encourage customers and staff to participate in a number of Breast Cancer Care fundraising initiatives which can be easily organised with the help of the charity. In the coming months, staff will be organising Strawberry Tea Parties, a Pink Friday during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, as well as planning sponsored runs, walks, climbs, treks and rides.

Breast Cancer Care provides information and support for anyone who is affected by breast cancer. One person is diagnosed with breast cancer every 10 minutes in the UK, and the money raised through the partnership will enable Breast Cancer Care to fund essential services such as its helpline, discussion forums, local events, one-to-one support sessions and website, so that no one need face a breast cancer diagnosis alone.

‘Our partnership with Makita UK will go a long way in helping us to support those affected by breast cancer,’ said Leanne Osborne, Breast Cancer Care, ‘and it will play a vital role in helping Makita’s customers to understand the disease and raise funds for our crucial work.’
