LuxLive Organisers Unveil Ambitious Plans For 2018

The organisers of this year’s LuxLive exhibition explain how they are set to unveil their most ambitious plans yet.

This year’s LuxLive, Europe’s largest annual lighting event, will feature a new ‘show within a show’ – Property Technology Live 2018 – and the most extensive speaking and educational programme to date, comprising eight conferences taking place in no fewer than six arenas and theatres.

Property Technology Live 2018 is backed by big brands including Bluetooth, Philips, Silvair and Aurora powered by Gooee. It will explore how digital platforms, including the Internet of Things, is creating enhanced environments and delivering data for actionable insights for building owners.

The event takes place on both days of the show – Wednesday November 14 and Thursday November 15 2018 – at a huge, specially-built arena at the heart of LuxLive and includes two days of free talks, masterclasses and debates from industry experts, including some of the world’s leading property developers, such as CBRE and JLL.

The speaker programme includes sessions on the new version 2 of the WELL Building Standard, an exploration of how lighting has boosted productivity at CBRE’s Amsterdam office by 18% and explorations of disruptive technologies, such as indoor tracking, Li-Fi and continuous disinfection using LED lighting.

A separate one-day conference, Lighting for Workplace and Wellbeing, will feature Europe’s largest so-called human centric lighting installation at Innogy in Prague.  The project involves over 2,000 light fittings providing dynamic illumination for 550 workers across 10,000 square metres.

Meanwhile, taking part in the Lighting for Retail and Hospitality conference are Sainsbury’s and Tesco; they’ll explore how lighting can boost sales.

The Lighting for Museums and Galleries conference brings together experts from the world of art and curation to discuss the latest wave of leading-edge installations, including massive LED installations.

The one-day Lighting for Transport and Infrastructure conference, taking place on Thursday 15 November, focuses on the illumination of transport networks such as roads, rail, airports and ports as well as large-scale energy, utility and regeneration projects. Kier, WSP and GIA Equation are among the speakers.

The Safer Cities conference takes place in a specially-designed ‘town square’ featuring a banked arena, street furniture including seats, lights and even trees – and a London bus serving coffee and drinks. It explores how lighting and other interventions can help the fight against anti-social behaviour, vandalism, crime and suicides in our cities. Speakers include the London Borough of Hackney, the London School of Economics and former Metropolitan Police experts Mark Pollard and Ann Burroughs.

The Escape Zone is a dedicated emergency lighting conference, which brings together the top experts in the field to answer all the key questions. Speakers include Volvo, BSI, Historic England, University College London and the Fire Industry Association.

The Lighting Industry Association Lighting Academy is a free educational programme designed to demystify key aspects of lighting.

LuxLive 2018 takes place at ExCeL London. All the conferences are free to end-users and specifiers and approved for CPD points. To view the full programme of events, visit the LuxLive website.
