Success for Toolstation’s charity band
A group of Toolstation employees in Somerset have formed a charity band to help fundraising efforts for the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team.
The band, called Spannered of Screwed, is made up of workers at Bridgwater’s Toolstation, took up a challenge to create a new band and give a major public performance in just five weeks.On Friday 27th January the group, including amateur guitarists, vocalists, a drummer and a keyboard player, gave a full performance to raise money for SOS Day, the RNLI’s biggest fundraising day of the year.
‘We did it!,’ said Toolstation’s IT support manager, Barry Lee, who organised the band. ‘Performing in public for the first time was never going to be easy. On top of that, we were based on the back of a decorated truck in the open air instead of a studio. However, it all went so well and the audience seemed very receptive.
‘They certainly helped raise lots of funds for the RNLI, so I think we can call the day a big success,’ he added.
The performance was held in the car park at Express Park, Bridgwater, as part of a range of fundraising activities organised by Toolstation for SOS day. Toolstation is the headline sponsor for the RNLI’S Flood Rescue Team which offers emergency inland waterborne search and rescue services.
