No False Alarms With Fireco’s SmartSound Technology

Twenty-four years ago, Fireco invented Dorgard, the first hold-open fire door device to close automatically on the sound of the alarm. Chairman Neil Purssey walked past a dancing plastic flower which made him wonder whether a fire door could react to a fire alarm. The answer was a resounding yes, and since, Fireco has continued to innovate, listening to its customers and learning what they need and what works.

Dorgard Pro is the latest innovation from Fireco. Among the product’s many great new features is Fireco SmartSound, which already knows the sound of your alarm. This means there’s no need for any time consuming or complicated programming to ‘teach’ the device what your alarm sounds like before it can be used. This SmartSound technology means that Dorgard Pro eliminates false alarms in noisy environments, great for use in schools or factories, or even anywhere people need to use a vacuum cleaner!

Dorgard was the first of its kind and has since been copied, but as with any type of original versus imitator situation, no thought process is required to simply replicate something that already exists. Every part of the Dorgard Pro has been thought through and developed using Fireco’s experience of creating hold-open door devices.

Any imitation is, by nature, limited, as those that make them don’t need the expertise required to design the product in the first place. They have not had to listen to customers, go on site, speak to installers, try and test, and learn and understand what is needed and why. Fireco SmartSound has been designed for customers.

I went to Fireco to try the Dorgard Pro and it’s very good. The workshop they are showing on here is all free. It’s worth having a look at if you’re involved in fire or security work.
