Epson Loves Labels At ED&I

Global solutions brand Epson will be showcasing its large range of specialist label machines designed specifically for all the tasks and environments contractors encounter at the ED&I show.

This new national trade event takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, September 6-7 and showcases the whole of the electrical industry with a comprehensive show floor and packed seminar programme. Sign up and check all the details here.

Epson says its LabelWorks range of printers provide electrical and IT contractors a simple to use hand-held label printing solution. By using the Epson Label editor application on a mobile phone and a LabelWorks printer, contractors can quickly and easily produce high visibility safety signage, magnetic labels and heat shrink wrap for tagging electrical equipment including, network comms cables, audio visual cables, pipes and machinery.

Epson says the Labelworks hand held printer is ideal for day to day asset labelling without breaking the budget.

Examples of products from the range include the the LW-K400VP, a lightweight device with a built-in keyboard and many productivity features marking it out as the flagship in its class. Extra-large fonts, new symbols and upgraded templates make labels easier and more economical for electricians, AV installers and warehouse and asset managers, says the maker.

A bright LCD screen and built-in keyboard are in place to make text entry easy in any lighting conditions. Extra large fonts are available, though text can also be automatically tailored to fit the desired size of label. Longer tapes of up to nine metres mean a low total cost of ownership, while margins can now be cut to one millimetre, reducing tape wastage.

Using the built-in manual cutter, the Cut & Print feature prints the next label in a pre-set series when it detects that the user has cut the previous label, saving time. The LW-K400VP also has a built-in internal memory, so previous projects can be quickly recalled.

The LW-K400VP offers 780 different symbols to suit many scenarios, while there’s a wide range of LK tapes available, including magnetic, heat resistant, glow in the dark, reflective, iron-on and heat-shrink tube (HST). The LW-K400VP also includes new satin ribbon templates and improved cable flag label designs.

The LW-K400VP comes as part of a package that includes an AC adapter, hard carry case and a soft protective sleeve. It is also available as standard LW-K400 with an AC adapter and the LW-K400L without AC adapter.

For challenging environments, the LW-Z900FK comes into its own, designed to deliver automated and fast label printing, cost saving options and hands-free operation. Ideally suited to installers and maintenance contractors, it’s described as ideal for rapidly and efficiently labelling electrics including audio/video cables and data communications equipment.

This unit has the unique Pick & Print function which prints the next label in a pre-set series when it detects that a user has ‘picked’ the previous label, even with mixed label lengths. This is combined with automatic full and half cutting, saving time during repetitive jobs, as is its ability to save up to 100 different label patterns.

Hands-free operation is made possible by an automatic cutter that cuts full or half-size labels and magnets that can be used to hold the printer onto steel surfaces. Text entry is made easier by a central keyboard – alternatively a PC keyboard can be used with Epson’s Label Editor software.
