A warm welcome at Dutch fine dining restaurant with Megaman LED lighting

Transformed from a wood drying shed into this stunning restaurant, the warm welcome is achieved using 130 Megaman LED Dim to WARM AR111 Lamps, the scheme also delivers a combined saving of over €93,000 in electricity costs and 140,000 kg of Co2 over its lifetime.

Originally The Tree Shrub sawmill, built in 1804 and located next to the Oude Rijn (Old Rhine), WOODS is located in a former wood drying shed next door to the stunning windmill. With a heritage of wood crafts that stretches back over 200 years, it was important to the owner that the restaurant’s interior be warm and welcoming, highlighting the beautiful wood-beamed historic structure. In addition, due to the waterside location of the building, it was important to create an ‘indoors outdoors’ feel to the external dining veranda.

With so much wood within the interior, a warm colour temperature was essential throughout the day and evening. Wilfred Tegelaar explained further, ‘We needed lighting that would create a warm and welcoming dining experience for our customers during the day and make the tableware and glasses sparkle, yet could be dimmed down for more intimate evening meals.’

Megaman LED Dim to Warm AR111 lamps were the natural choice for this scheme due to their ability to follow the same dimming curve of filament lamps and at the same time emit a warmer light as they are dimmed. Incorporating Megaman U-DIM technology, these dimmable LEDs are compatible with the widest range of existing dimmers, whether they are leading-edge or trailing edge dimmers.

The Megaman LED Dim to Warm AR111 24° 130 LED lamps were used throughout the kitchen, restaurant in Nomad and Bolster Modular fittings and in the beams of the outdoor terrace area. The use of a 24° beam angle ensures a soft, but spot on delivery of light throughout and by continuing the lighting to the outdoor eating space, the warm welcome of the restaurant has been extended right up to the river’s edge.
