Can you afford to ignore training opportunities, asks ESP’s Paul Dawson?

At ESP we have long been trying to educate contractors that this is not the case, and even more so in today’s environment, where the advancement in technology is helping bring to market, products and systems that are easier than ever before to install and operate.

In a bid to get the message home, we are encouraging contractors to come along to our free, in-house training programmes. We have recently invested in a brand new purpose-built showroom and training facility at our head office in Redditch.

The training days are aimed at electrical contractors and wholesalers who would like to add fire and security equipment to their product portfolio but feel they do not have the core knowledge to do this with confidence.

There are two separate training programmes available. The Security Training programme takes place on one Wednesday each month, accommodating up to 22 candidates. It provides an overview of all the ESP product categories, CCTV, Access Control, External Security, Fire Protection and Emergency Lighting, with full features and benefits covered. The aim is to simplify the installation process, demonstrating ease of set up and programming. Technical support is also covered.

Fire Training – one session will take place each month accommodating eight candidates at a time. The session is divided into 50 per cent presentation and 50 per cent practical and aims to cover the best practice method for installing, setting up and final commissioning of ESP’s Fireline MAGPRO addressable range. The course is completed in just a single day, with each candidate supplied with their own copy of the PC programming software, as well as a certificate for the attendance of a Level 1 MAGPro Addressable Fire Products commissioning course.

Paul Dawson, managing director, said, ‘Installation of fire and security equipment is very often considered a specialist area. We are keen to demonstrate to the electrical contractor how they can greatly benefit from offering these additional services to their customers.’

Dates for training are available monthly throughout the year and can be booked directly with ESP. Further details are available at www.espuk.com.
