The first of its kind, the roadshow kicked off on the 18th April, seeing the fully certified calibration van visiting a number of the leading wholesaler’s branches around the country, including Warrington, and most recently Birmingham.
Kitted out with a variety of calibration hardware and software, the mobile lab gives time-stretched electricians fast, easy access to a hassle free testing and certification service at their local Newey & Eyre branch.
Gavin Tallentire, product manager for electrical test and calibration at Newey & Eyre comments: ‘We’ve had a great turnout during the first month of the calibration roadshow, with customers making the most of our on-site service and expertise.
‘Whilst the process of calibrating electrical equipment can feel like an inconvenience, the reality is that it’s a responsibility that all electricians must abide by, to optimise safety and ensure due diligence.’
Attending the event at Newey & Eyre’s Birmingham branch, was Paul Downing, electrical engineer, adding: ‘Having the calibration service available on location can be an invaluable time saver for me. It means I can make use of the small window of opportunity between jobs to take care of my instruments, without needing to send them off for a few days at a time. I can simply hand over the equipment, grab a coffee whilst they are calibrated and tested in the mobile lab, obtain all the relevant certification there and then – and then be back off to my next job!’
The fully-accredited calibration service covers the majority of electrical testing equipment, including Multimeters, Clamp Meters and 17the Edition test equipment, ensuring all appliances are working within the manufactured tolerances. In addition to the mobile lab which will come to a customer’s site, the standard calibration service enables instrument collection within just 24 hours and guarantees service availability across the wholesaler’s national network.
The mobile calibration van will continue to park up at a further 15 branches during the months of May and June, including Cardiff, Blackburn, Slough, Leicester and Park Royal.
