£9,000 Marshall-Tufflex donation helps hospital purchase life-saving equipment

The leading cable management manufacturer has been a long-time supporter of the Conquest Hospital. The company’s latest donation of £9,000 enabled the hospital to purchase a Hamilton-T1 transport ventilator, which delivers intensive care standard ventilation for patients during transfers.

Pauline Simes, the hospital’s critical care service manager, said the ventilator would be ‘extremely useful’ when moving paediatric patients within the hospital and when transferring them to other units. She said: ‘On behalf of the Intensive Care Unit I would like to say a huge thank you to Marshall-Tufflex for the very generous donation, which has part-funded the new ventilator. Critically ill children are admitted to our unit to be ventilated and stabilised in readiness for transfer to one of the London Paediatric Intensive Care Units. This new ventilator is an invaluable addition to our essential equipment and enables us to safely ventilate any child from a newborn to young adult. Thank you so much for your continued support of our unit.’

Last year Marshall-Tufflex made a similar donation to the Critical Care unit for the purchase of Nicom monitors which allow non-invasive monitoring of patients, transfer bags for use when moving patients and an ‘airway manikin’ to enable staff to practice intubation techniques.

The company’s Joint Consultative Committee, a group of non-managerial representatives from around the business, decide which local causes will be supported each year via its work with Marshall-Tufflex in the Community. Committee representative Laurence Glaze helped hand the £9,000 cheque over to hospital representatives. He said: ‘We are really proud to offer on-going support to the Conquest Hospital and particularly its Critical Care Unit. It is a vital part of the community carrying out fantastic work.’
