Minister serves up high praise for NICEIC

Mr Biagi (centre) praised the work NICEIC was doing to raise the importance of using competent tradespeople with the appropriate certification to carry out building work in Scotland.

He was also of the view that that the Certifier of Construction Scheme should remain non mandatory and schemes such as NICEIC’s Approved Contractor was a complimentary alternative route to certification.

Stuart Thompson (left), NICEIC’s Scotland sales manager, commented: ‘It was pleasing to meet the minister and get an encouraging endorsement of the work NICEIC does in Scotland to promote competent, registered tradespeople.

‘We spoke about a wide variety of issues currently in the sector and we look forward to working with the minister and various departments in the future on a joint approach to finding the best solution for contractors in Scotland.’

Mr Biagi was also interested in NICEIC’s Jobs for the Girls campaign and believes the encouragement of more females into the industry is an important issue to help solve a potential skills gap in the future.
