Unitrunk achieves CIBSE CPD accreditation

The company has been awarded CIBSE accreditation for two presentations entitled ‘Cable Management Solutions: minimise volume, maximise potential’ and ‘Zinc Whiskers: understanding the issue & appreciating the solution’, both of which were already accredited by CPD UK.

Tim Brown from Unitrunk explained, ‘The goal of our CPDs is to help consultants, engineers and installers to understand the implications of cable management decisions on the design, buildability, sustainability and durability of their projects as part of our commitment to support correct specification. The feedback we’ve received indicates that both of our CPDs provide invaluable insights into cable management best practice.

‘We were also aware, however, that some building services consultants do not recognise CPD hours unless the CPD in question is CIBSE accredited, which is why have gone through CIBSE’s strict accreditation process to ensure that we share our knowledge with as many professionals as possible and help them towards their CPD goals.’

It was after completing the accreditation process that Unitrunk discovered the company is the first cable management provider to achieve CIBSE approval for its presentations because there was no relevant category under which to file the presentations in the CIBSE CPD directory. CIBSE has since created a new category to accommodate Unitrunk’s modules.

Tim added, ‘The building services sectors is looking to CIBSE to help drive and facilitate BIM implementation and cable management has an important role to play in enabling a BIM led approach to electrical services design.

‘That’s why we believe that our CPD presentations form an important part of the CIBSE CPD portfolio and we’re delighted to have achieved accreditation.’
