NG Bailey secures £12.5m engineering contract for global energy leader’s flagship office

Subsea 7 is one of the world’s leading global contractors in seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services to the offshore industry.

NG Bailey’s specialist engineering division will provide the M&E services for the £40m BREEAM ‘Excellent’ development in Sutton, Surrey.
Contracted by Galliford Try, NG Bailey will deliver all M&E installations for the 17,300m2 of commercial office space, covering five storeys, plus basement and external works.

Poised for completion in Q3 of 2016, 40 Brighton Road will be home for Subsea 7’s London Global Projects operations, and will accommodate the company’s projected business growth, increasing staff numbers and where required, their clients.

Adam Rowland, NG Bailey operations director, said, ‘We are delighted to have secured this prestigious project for an end client that shares our commitment to both safety and sustainability.’

The 40 Brighton Road project will be finished to a Category B standard, and comprises a central covered atrium and a basement car park for 90 vehicles. Further works include a reception area, gym, data centre and a café all on the ground floor, with office space on the first to fourth floor, and ‘The Reef’ restaurant on the fourth floor level. The office areas are designed to be open plan, with each floor having central cores for circulation and bathrooms.

The new building will be highly sustainable, with low energy consumption, encompassing environmentally friendly materials, solutions and systems such as a brown roof, rainwater harvesting, combined heat and power (CHP) and a large solar PV farm.

Numerous biodiversity enhancements are being adopted on site including bat boxes, bug hotels, log pile invertebrate habitats, bee hives, planters, and planted cycle locks.

NG Bailey is also currently working in partnership with Galliford Try on the £24m Chatham Place residential development in Reading (part of a £100m mixed use regeneration scheme being developed by Muse in partnership with Reading Borough Council).
