Electricians can get membership of the new third party scheme for free when joining Stroma’s Part P Competent Person Scheme for only £288. Membership numbers for CPS at Stroma have rocketed since the ‘fully loaded’ £288 offer was introduced last year and this additional incentive is expected to draw even more interest from the electrical market in the coming months.

The Building Regulations amendment which introduced third party certification was a vote of confidence for approved electricians by transferring authority for installation checks away from Building Control. Previously, issues of non-compliance were not always reported back to Building Control, leaving errors unchecked and potential dangers. The procedures put into place by Stroma’s third party scheme require non-compliant installations to be reported, with the responsibility of the third party inspector to then correct and make the installation safe.
Stroma’s third party scheme is closely monitored to uphold the high standards kept by all Stroma-certified electricians and the majority of other installers working within the industry. Membership of both their electrical schemes offers the opportunity for Stroma-certified electricians to advertise their services to more customers. Third party certification actively puts the electrician in front of customers with an affordable offer and greater range of services. The opportunity for Part P installers to cross-sell their installation services on top of verifying existing work is clear. Recent research has shown that DIY skills are declining amongst the general public and demand is growing for competent, qualified and reliable installers.
