Forty year anniversary sparks O2 surprise for senior electrician

The company wanted to do something special to celebrate Arthur’s 40 years of service with REL and managed to lure the unsuspecting sparky to the O2 with the help of his wife where 40 of his colleagues were waiting to join him on the ‘Skywalk’.

Amongst the colleagues there to complete the 190m walk across the famous dome were Arthur’s sons Ben and Bobby, both of whom followed in their father’s footsteps by joining REL as apprentices.

Arthur Fenttiman commented, ‘REL has been a great place to work for the past 40 years and I was delighted when my sons were taken on here because I knew they would have real opportunities for career development.

‘When my wife suggested we go to the O2 I didn’t suspect a thing so I had such a shock when I saw all my colleagues ready to take me on the Skywalk wearing T-shirts with my mug shot on! It was a wonderful surprise too, though, and an amazing day.’
