The search begins for Britain’s top tradesman 2014

Screwfix aims to find and recognise tradesmen that keep the UK’s homes and businesses in top condition.

Not only will this year’s worthy winner carry the title that will transform their business – but they will also win the keys to a brand new £28,000 Toyota van (OTR) with all the gadgets and livery they need.

Last year, Tom Ball (pictured), a joiner from Cheshire, walked away with the crown after fighting off stiff competition from thousands of entrants. He says it has had an amazing impact on his business, Tom Ball Joinery, bringing him new customers and filling his work book for months.

Tom said. ‘It has been an incredible year. Holding the title of Britain’s Top Tradesman has been a great endorsement for the business and for myself. When customers see that someone in the local area has won this award from Screwfix they want you out on their job straight away. The last year has been great. I would really encourage other tradesmen to enter and give it a go.’

The Britain’s Top Tradesman (BTT) award is given to those who can prove they excel in their business. Maybe you’ve just started your own company, or perhaps you have taken a course to upgrade your skill set. You may have completed a complex job for someone, or you run your business with customers in mind, by offering transparent pricing, free quotes or on a no-fix no-fee basis. No matter the reason, you have until 14th September 2014, to put your case forward and enter the competition.

John Mewett, marketing director at Screwfix, commented, ‘We run this competition to reward quality tradesmen and to celebrate their success. The regional rounds of BTT enable people working in the trade to meet up, share ideas and tell us about what’s happening on the ground. It’s the fifth year we have run this competition, and an electrician won the first year – could they make it the double in 2014?’

Entries to BTT are open until 14th September 2014, with regional finalists going head-to-head in October. The national final will be in November, with the overall winner being named Britain’s Top Tradesman 2014.

To enter you can go into any Screwfix or Electricfix store, or go to www.screwfix.com/btt, where you can also watch a film of Tom giving top tips on how to get through to the final.
