Rhys was recognised as an inspirational apprentice in the inaugural Quality Skills Alliance Awards.
The annual awards celebrate excellence and achievement and are open to all apprentices who studied with the Quality Skills Alliance – one of the largest consortia of work based learning providers in the country – in the 2012-13 academic year. Rhys was nominated by Christine Rainsford, his training adviser from JTL and was chosen by a panel consisting of the QSA Chair and representatives from the Confederation of British Industry and the Welsh government’s Department for Education and Skills.
’I was delighted to be nominated for this award,’ said Rhys Evans. ‘It was a great feeling to know JTL felt I was deserving of this and to win it was something very special. I’m grateful to my employers and to JTL for the support they have given me during my apprenticeship – this will be a wonderful addition to my CV for the future.’
JTL’s regional manager for Wales, Martin Laye, said, ‘Rhys’s training officer Christine Rainsford has been full of praise for Rhys and his efforts during his apprenticeship. It was a privilege to be able to nominate him for this award and we hope this may be the first of many awards he receives during a long and rewarding career as an electrician.’
