New jobs as electrical firm expands into Milton Keynes

The Gloucester based company specialises in wiring new homes for the UK’s leading housing developers, wiring around one in 10 of all new properties built in England last year. Now an increase in workloads in the South East and East Midlands means the company is setting up premises in Milton Keynes and looking to recruit in the local area.

‘We’re already working on a number of sites in the area including the Taylor Wimpey Oxley Gate development and there are several other sites in the pipeline,’ said Steve Evans, managing director of Clarkson Evans. ‘Milton Keynes is the ideal location for us to set up premises from which we can travel to sites across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.

The team to be based at the new branch will include experienced electricians as well as young people starting out as apprentices. ‘We have a strong track record of offering much needed apprenticeships that lead to long term career opportunities with us,’ said Mr Evans. ‘We’ve already been interviewing some very good applicants in the area and we’re looking forward to welcoming them on board, initially creating up to 15 new jobs.’

In total Clarkson Evans employs over 550 staff and operates across much of southern England, the Midlands and South Wales. Despite operating in an industry that was hit hard by the recession, the company has been steadily expanding in the last five years and its new Milton Keynes premises will increase the total number of branches to 13.
