JIB welcomes Select Committee report on Part ‘P’

Steve Brawley, chief executive of the JIB, said, ‘The JIB welcomes the recommendation that electricians qualified to NVQ level 3 should be responsible for domestic electrical work.

‘It is pleasing that witnesses from the industry who gave evidence to the Committee were supportive of the principle of adopting the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) to accredit competence in the domestic sector.

‘The JIB looks forward to working with the competent person schemes to introduce appropriate ECS cards for their registrants.’
