Stanley’s fantasy football tournament returns for 2013/14 season

Running for the duration of the season, the tournament will run alongside one of the most anticipated league campaigns in years. With no Ferguson at Manchester United, a returning Mourinho at Chelsea and further changes across the board, it is shaping up to be a season full of twists and turns all the way.

Launching with a dedicated micro-site, the Stanley Fantasy Premier League tournament is open to all fans of the official Stanley Facebook page. Using a budget of £60m, participants will select a team of 11 EPL players, consisting of a goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two strikers. Crucially, only two players can be selected from a single club, forcing users to be creative about their choices. Forty transfers are available during the season, with a limit of five per month, and team points will be updated in real time while matches are in progress, with points awarded for goals, clean sheets, appearances and a host of other criteria. For those that are particularly keen to go up against their friends, there is even the option to create a ‘Mini-League’ that is only open to specific members.

The winner at the end of the season will take home a prize of £1,000 in cash plus £200 worth of Stanley tools. There will also be a regular ‘Manager of the Month’ chosen throughout the campaign, with each monthly winner receiving prizes of £100 cash, plus £200 worth of Stanley tools.

Last year’s winner, Joseph Nolan said, ‘I thoroughly enjoyed playing Stanley Fantasy Premier League last season but never thought I’d actually win the top prize of £1,000. I think I speak for everyone when I say that this competition is a great way of creating interest around the matches throughout the season. Having recently purchased my first property the Stanley toolkit will definitely be put to great use.’

David Osborne, marketing director at Stanley Black & Decker added, ‘The Stanley Fantasy Premier League is another way for us to maintain engagement and give back to our loyal end users. Last year’s game had almost 1,000 participants and with one of the most interesting starts to the football season on the horizon, we’re confident that there will be even more participants this year.’
