Homeowner so impressed with renewable energy he changed his career!

A construction project manager was so impressed with the air source heat pump installed in his new property that he decided to go and work for the company that recommended and installed the new system.

Kevin Bell, now operations manager for Ecologic Living based in Cumbria, was keen to benefit from an environmentally friendly energy system for his new build property on the outskirts of Carlisle. Having researched heat pumps and biomass systems, Kevin was impressed by the personal recommendation that Islam Pearson, sales director of Ecologic Living, gave for the new DHP-AQ heat pump from Danfoss.

The property is a new build home with four bedrooms, two en-suites, one bathroom and a wet room, therefore Kevin required an efficient and cost effective means of providing hot water and space heating for the house.

Kevin Bell said, ‘I had heard so many positive things about the Danfoss heat pump from Ecologic Living that I trusted their recommendation for my new home.  I carried out further research into running costs and the savings that could be made on energy bills and was impressed with how efficient the DHP-AQ heat pump was. It was also the best way for my family to keep their carbon emissions to a minimum.

‘I was so impressed with the innovative technology and the difference it made to my home that I jumped at the opportunity to work for Ecologic Living and use my experience to help other homeowners take advantage of heat pumps.’

Solar PV panels have also been installed on the property to further reduce its carbon footprint.

Ecologic Living assessed the energy requirements of the property and specified a 9kW DHP-AQ, with underfloor heating provided to the ground and first floor.  Shortly after having the heat pump fitted, Kevin was offered a position within the company.

Kevin also benefited from funding through the government’s Renewable Heating Premium Payment, which offers £850 towards the cost of a heat pump installation.

Chris Dale, director of Danfoss, said, ‘It is great that Kevin has one of our DHP-AQ units fitted at home, as it means that he can be even more confident in its abilities and expected performance. Since the launch of the DHP-AQ, we have seen an increasing number of builders and homeowners choosing to install heat pumps in new properties due to the fact that they provide efficient heating, whilst cutting the cost of energy.’
