Filey holiday home buyers take advantage of green technology from Danfoss

Buyers at the exclusive The Bay development in Filey on the North Yorkshire coast are reaping the benefits of renewable energy through air source heat pumps from Danfoss.

They are being offered the option by developer Essential Vivendi to upgrade the new homes they buy with heat pumps and solar PV panels, as part of reducing their carbon footprint and energy bills.

The first buyers to benefit were Paul and Angie Kerr from Oldham in Lancashire, who acquired a two bedroom property at the exclusive development of holiday cottages at The Bay. Paul, an industrial heating engineer, said, ‘I didn’t know much about heat pumps before I bought this property but I have been amazed by their performance. We visit our holiday home almost every weekend and the energy costs have been minimal.”

The Kerrs are amongst a dozen homebuyers so far who have decided to upgrade to air source heat pumps and have solar panels installed to offset much of the running costs of the heat pump.

Wayne Low, director of Essential Viviendi, said, ‘Heat pumps have definitely proved an attraction on this development with a large number of buyers deciding to take up the option. We liked the look of the DHP-AQ heat pump and it has helped to increase the appeal of our homes even further.’

Homes at The Bay have been individually styled, to create an aesthetically pleasing street scene with wide boulevards and mews-style cul-de-sacs. Built using a modern Energy Block system, these homes offer high insulation which is also perfect to optimise the running of the heat pump. The homes achieve level four on the Code for Sustainable Homes, providing excellent energy efficiency.

The heat pump was installed by DJ Prescott, one of Danfoss’ approved network of installers, based in Hornsea.
