Harvard Engineering appeals for support

Harvard Engineering is asking lighting companies to show their support by voting for it in the next stage of the European Business Awards.

The company with the highest amount of votes from each country automatically becomes a National Champion and goes through to the next round. Voting takes place between 11pm on 5th September to 4pm on 17th October 2012.

Thirty-nine companies from the UK have been named as National Finalists, with 442 companies from 26 other countries across Europe also named as National Finalists for their respective nations.

John McDonnell, managing director at Harvard Engineering, commented, ‘We are really excited to be named as the only UK lighting company as a UK National Finalist, and would be extremely proud to be given the honour of UK National Champion. We want as many Yorkshire/lighting companies and individuals to get behind us, to help us through to the next round.’

In addition to the public vote, a panel of expert judges will be viewing videos produced by each finalist and will award National Champion status to between five and 20 organisations from each country. Judging of the National Finalists will take place from 6th September with National Champions being announced in November 2012.

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards said, ‘This new process provides a greater opportunity for companies to engage with supporters in their own country as well as presenting their achievements to a wider audience across Europe. These videos show some of the most successful and sustainable companies in Europe and we hope that anyone interested in business will take some time to watch the videos, either from their own country or from other countries and then vote for their favourites.’

The European Business Awards is widely recognised as the showcase for Europe’s most dynamic companies, identifying some of Europe’s brightest businesses based on their ability to demonstrate the three core principles at the heart of the Awards programme – innovation, business excellence and sustainability.

If Harvard should be awarded National Champion status, it will be reassessed by a third panel of judges made up of Europe wide business leaders, academics and entrepreneurs between November 2012 and January 2013, who will award the top 110 organisations the coveted Ruban d’Honneur status. Finally, after face-to-face presentations, the Ruban d’Honneur recipients will be honoured and the names of the overall winners will be revealed at a Gala awards ceremony in April 2013.
