Ploughcroft helping to make a zero carbon world

Recent research carried out by the Department for Transport showed that 30 per cent of consumers surveyed said that the availability of public charging points put them off buying an electric vehicle.

Renewable energy company Ploughcroft and charitable trust Zero Carbon World are working together to make charging stations more accessible to consumers.

Zero Carbon World set out to address this by giving away 1,000 free charging stations to UK businesses within the hotel and leisure industry, providing electric vehicle owners with a much greater choice of charging locations. The organisation’s founder, Kevin Sharpe, is passionate about the fact that the future of motoring should lie in electric vehicles.

As Zero Carbon World’s nominated installation partner, Ploughcroft is now able to fit the systems at a favourable rate for organisations that are supplied by Zero Carbon World.

Already Zero Carbon World has given away 205 charging stations to the hotel and leisure industry across the UK. With the help of Ploughcroft it is set to double its weekly output with the charity now expecting to give away at least 20-40 units per week.

Chris Hopkins, managing director of Ploughcroft, said, ‘Over the next few years, businesses within the hotel and leisure sector need to be able to offer customers the added value service of being able to charge their vehicle whilst on the premises. With motor manufacturers investing billions in designing and producing innovative electric vehicles, consumer demand is set to soar in the future and we are working with Zero Carbon World to help meet these requirements.’

Charles Roberts, marketing manager of Zero Carbon World, said, ‘We have had a great response from hotels and leisure businesses to our offer of free charging stations and this new relationship with Ploughcroft will help to make them even more accessible to UK businesses.’

As well as partnering with Zero Carbon World, Ploughcroft is the exclusive partner of Rolec Services to supply and install the WallPod range of Electric Vehicle charging units on a national basis. The company also trains other installers to the highest quality standards to deliver the service, with a view to them becoming Ploughcroft approved Electric Vehicle installers.
