Honeywell launches new app
Honeywell Electrical Devices & Systems (ED&S) has launched a customisable library mobile app, following the success of the first app for its MK Electric brand.
The app, which is available on tablets as well as the Apple iOS and Android mobile platforms, gives access to product and technical information for one of the largest ranges of electrical products, accessories and systems available today – over 20,000 in the UK alone. It includes all Honeywell ED&S brands, including MK Electric, Friedland, and Ex-Or in the UK.
For electrical contractors, installers, specifiers and consultants the biggest benefit is the ability to personalise the app depending on location and product needs. The app will allow users to create their own customised ‘My Library’ which can be downloaded and held locally on phones and tablets for easy access on site or outside of Wi-Fi networks. With its touch screen functionality, users can then enlarge pages by up to 200 per cent with a tap, in order to examine product details more closely.
Plus, using GPS technology, a store locator function will display a list of stockists within a 10 mile radius of the device, enabling users to very quickly access required products.
Jason Ng, marketing communications specialist for Honeywell ED&S, said, ‘The development of this app is part of Honeywell ED&S’ pledge to make our customers’ jobs as hassle free as possible, by putting product information conveniently in their back pocket. Flicking through large, bulky printed catalogues is a thing of the past.
‘And this is a move that’s already proving popular with customers. Our first iPhone app for MK Electric was downloaded from iTunes by over 10,000 users. With additional functionality, more content and a wider geographical reach, this new app is set to be an even greater success.’
Each product description utilises intuitive pinch and swipe functions for navigation. Other functionality includes keyword search, page number search, thumbnail search and share tools such as email, Facebook, Twitter and Linked In to pass on information to friends and colleagues.
