SkillElectric success around the country

Talented young electricians across the country have been celebrating after winning regional heats of the SkillElectric competition.

Achieving first place in the three English events were:

North: Josh Day of CW Electrical Services/Onsite BristolMidlands: Sam Henshaw of Lowe Electrical/Leicester College South: Josh Sharp of Alan Manchip Electrical/Bridgwater College.

All three excelled against their peers in a task that involved the installation of several circuits with various components and equipment. Judges awarded Josh, Sam and Josh with the most points against strict assessment criteria including accuracy, function, quality, health & safety, testing and wiring and termination.

The highest scoring competitors across all heats are currently being identified and will be invited to take part in the UK final to be held at Leeds College of Building, 14-16 September 2011.

Neil Collishaw of SummitSkills, organiser of the competition, said, ‘So far we have seen an excellent standard of work from our competitors – we are continually encouraged by the quality and dedication we witness from our industry’s apprentices. Congratulations to Josh, Sam and Josh for their achievement to date.’

This year the SkillElectric final will take place alongside SkillPlumb, SkillFridge, SkillPipe and SkillBuild in a joint event that will see around 150 trainees competing in front of hundreds of visitors.
