Gent launches brand new CPD Guide on Central Battery Systems

Gent by Honeywell has released its new CPD guide on the design and application of emergency lighting central power systems.

The CPD guide is part of a series of technical seminars produced by Gent aimed at raising the knowledge base of professionals in the industry. Each seminar focuses on a particular subject area and this new guide is designed to help professionals who are involved in the provision of either fire detection systems or emergency lighting.

The latest CPD brochure and presentation looks at the various types and design of emergency lighting central power systems and their application. The course was created to help designers to understand the various options and to select the best system for a particular application.

The course provides a comprehensive guide to central battery systems and covers a number of key areas including the relevant standards, the main methods of emergency lighting and the typical premises which would suit this type of system. The guide examines the main advantages of a centrally supplied installation over a self-contained system, looking at everything from the significant life cost savings to the achievable higher light levels. It also focuses on the pros and cons of the different types of central battery systems, the various modes of operation and the wiring and testing requirements.

Brian Lawless, technical sales manager, Central Battery Units, said, ‘This industry is evolving continuously so it’s essential that every professional in the business acquires new knowledge and improves their skills. Even though Central Battery Systems are not a new product, the trends in emergency lighting are constantly changing and this CPD course addresses every aspect of this valid method. This new course demonstrates Gent’s commitment to its educational role and to the provision of a Continuing Professional Development programme for the fire industry.’

The CPD seminar is available now. All Gent CPD seminars have gained several relevant external accreditations and have been officially certified by the Construction CPD Certification Service.
