Dorgard bowls over Sussex CCC

In order to keep fire doors open safely and legally, whilst allowing customers and staff to move about easily, Sussex County Cricket Club (Sussex CCC) has installed Dorgard wireless fire door retainers at the club’s Indoor Cricket School.

Formed in 1839, Sussex was England’s first county cricket club, playing its first county match at the County Ground, Hove in 1872 against Gloucestershire.

In the current ground development programme, that includes both the refurbishment of existing buildings and the adding of new facilities, the need to balance health and safety compliance with convenient customer service at affordable levels is essential for the club to achieve its annual safety at sports ground certification.

Dorgard enables fire doors to be legally and safely kept open as it allows the door to close when the fire alarm sounds, preventing the spread of fire and smoke.

A Sussex CCC spokesman commented, ‘Dorgard is the perfect solution as it allows us to leave fire doors open, helping injured patients attending our Radius Physiotherapy Clinic, and for those using the sports hall whilst carrying large amounts of kit to enter and leave easily, but of course allowing the doors to close automatically in the event of a fire emergency.’
